Working within the confines of oil painting, my practice primarily focuses on how the image has potential to communicate a contemporary experience of life. I’m intrigued by our world, by its bizarre structures and systems, and as an artist I try to speak of these things in images. Leaving behind the rather academic employs of symbol and narrative, I am exploring how we really engage with the world: namely, through our use of technology.

Our visual field is highly accustomed to screen formatting; be it the aspect ratios of online social media platforms, or the ubiquity of edited imagery. And as such, we are all speaking new visual languages that reflect the way we interact with life. And as with so many things that originate online, there is an eventual landing into material form - in this case, into the canon of oil painting.

Using a multidisciplinary approach, I am constantly hunting for new voices and actively fostering connections with people who have different attitudes to my own. This kind of dialogue and friction catalyses fresh perspectives and opens new channels for directing the practice itself. Previously inaccessible modes of thought and technique are made available, and art is brought into a fructive contemporary moment.
